Rules to the Game

Games have rules, and that's what makes them fun to play. Tedium happens when there are no boundaries or limitations to mark completion, success, or progress.

When I used to teach acting at drama school one of the first lessons was this: Form a circle and ask a volunteer to step into the middle. Then tell them to do something. Anything. The result is usually paralysis and at best plain boring. Now tell them that there is something very tiny in their hand...
