The Immediacy of Theatre Technorati icon

Fantastical Adventures of Leonardo da Vinci

The great thing about making theatre is that it is easy to get going. You just need some people, some space and some great ideas.  Certainly my career began in a ‘profit-share’ environment where no one was paid a salary but everyone was paid an equal share of the profits. Usually this was a few hundred dollars for 10 weeks work. No one got rich this way, but we honed our craft and found our audience.

If I was still in theatre, this is what I would be doing. Get some actors and an off-the-shelf digital camera and make weekly/monthly episodes for 99c a piece. It could work just like a profit-share project. Its just as immediate as the old days in theatre, but it could make a lot more money. It could be a real revenue earner.

In the past, new film-makers have not had the immediacy of new theatre makers because the distribution channel has been behind locked doors.  P2P brings them the immediacy of theatre.

The picture above if from my last production called The Fantastical Adventures of Leonardo da Vinci.
